Family Dynamic

      As we go through many changes in our society, one thing, in particular, is standing out to me. Fewer and fewer people are choosing to get married. There can be some reasons that prevent some from marrying not by chose like not being able to find an eligible partner, but others are willingly choosing not to. People are choosing to put their careers first, fear commitment/divorce, or have no time to find a partner in this crazy world because of a time-consuming schedule. It is important to teach these values to our children and our peers because the lack of marriage is diminishing family connections. Coming from a Mexican/Peruvian household, the older generation is married while out of 12 grandchildren who are in their late 20s early 30s, only one three are married. Divorce

 With the divorce rates being so high these days, do you think people have given up on the idea of a healthy marriage? Do people just give up far too quickly? Well according to Dr. Michelle Weiner-Davis, an author and a clinical licensed social worker, the simple is yes, she believes that people give up too easily. There have been couples that I have heard that have decided to finalize their decision on divorce after one large blowout. I may not know the full story but it seemed a little quick to be calling a divorce after a couple months of being married. It is heartbreaking to hear that they have been faced with divorce at such a young age and only for being married for a couple months but do you think that something could have been done to save it? The effects of communication

 Is communication truly the key to a successful marriage? The answer is easy; yes it is. Though it may be the one thing that everyone has not mastered yet, probably because they were never taught by having a good example. Growing up, my parents did not always have the best communication skills because my father never knew what healthy communication was. He has gotten a lot better but when I was young, I was frustrated how my father would react to some tuff decisions in the family. Over the years, he has been able to make changes to better understand my mom and she was able to have patience with him. With the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the center of the church is family. And we can apply the same principles about counsel that we learn in church, in our own marriages. What couple doesn't want their relationship to succeed? By learning how to listen, compromise, and communicate with each other, there would be a lot more successful marriage rates.
